On 22 May 2014, mobile companies of Pakistan are finally awarded with their respective 3G and 4G licenses at Sarena hotel, Islamabad. Prime Minister Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif, Ishaq Dar Minister Finance, Mrs. Anusha Rehman, State Minister for IT and Telecom, Dr. Ismail Shah, Chairman Pakistan Telecommunication Authority Witnessed this amazing moment.
Zong, Ufone and Mobilink were represented by their CEOs in the 3G 4G spectrum license award signing ceremony. Telenor was represented by its Chief Corporate Affairs of Telenor, Mr. Aslam Hayat.
On behalf of government of Pakistan, Dr. Ismail Shah, Chairman PTA, performed the signing session. Mr. Rashid Khan, CEO Mobilink, Mr. Abdul Aziz, CEO Ufone, Mr. Fan Yun Jun, CEO of CMPak and Mr. Aslam Hayat, Chief Corporate Affairs of Telenor represented their individual companies.
3G license is awarded to Mobilink, Ufone and Telenor. Zong got the fortune to achieve both 3G as well as 4G license. These telecom companies of Pakistan won their respective license in the spectrum auction ceremony held last month.
Our readers are revised that Telenor and Ufone paid their 50% upfront fee for the 3G spectrum. On the other hand, Mobilink and Zong fulfilled 100% upfront fee for the spectrum they had won last month. Furthermore, all companies have to submit 10% withholding tax on license fee will be deposited to government of Pakistan.

From local and global analysts, 3G and 4G spectrum auction in Pakistan has received a [positive response. US 1.2 billion dollars were generated by Pakistan in this auction plus 2 unsold licenses worth US 505 millions are still in the hands of government of Pakistan.
