From Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), telecom operators of Pakistan have demanded a tax waiver on the license fee of 3G and 4G services in the country.

When Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) was asked by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) about the collection of 10% withholding tax on the payment fee of license from all telecom operators, this demand of tax waiver was made. This demand has created a brawl among the tax authorities and the telecom operators because operators want Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to pay 10% withholding tax from the grand total amount of license fee that has been submitted by them. Otherwise, they want to get a tax waiver in this case.

This matter has been now submitted to the Ministry of Finance of Pakistan who will pass the full and final decision regarding this dispute of tax waiving. Telecom operators have submitted $1.182 billion at the time of spectrum auction that was demanded by Federal Board of Revenue. Since most of the telecom operators have started submitting the undertaken amount, so this 10% withholding tax is going to be a big burden on their shoulders. Telecom operators are going to put together it in no doubt that they acquire tax waiver or else the burden is going to be transmitted on the shoulders of their respective customers.
